Yonder Walls brings 35 murals to Birmingham's Parkside
Thirty-five murals cover Urban Supply's exterior
Yonder Walls organizers paid 44 artists to paint 35 colorful murals across the exterior of Urban Supply in Birmingham, Alabama's Parkside district. According to AL.com's October 16, 2026, article by Jonece Starr Dunigan, the free mural and music festival was scheduled for Saturday, October 17, from noon to 8 p.m.
Urban Supply is a mixed-use development at 1301 First Avenue South. Its outside walls provided the setting for the mural project, bringing the artwork onto the building's exterior throughout the site. The planned festival invited the community to enjoy the paintings alongside music, food and opportunities to take part in making art.
Music and a community wall shared the program
The music stage was planned for the intersection of First Avenue South and 13th Street South. AL.com named Birmingham musician Love Moor and hip-hop duo Shaheed and DJ Supreme among the announced performers. Grammy-winning singer Pynk Beard was scheduled to close the night.
The program also included a kids zone, local vendors and food trucks. Visitors were invited to buy from local sellers, get food from the trucks and participate in a community wall. Alongside the exterior paintings, the shared wall offered a hands-on activity within the mural and music program.
The combination put several activities in the same neighborhood event: viewing artwork, listening to performances, shopping, eating and spending time in the children's area. The invitation extended to the community, with free entry to the festival and purchases available from the vendors and food trucks.
Bicycle parking and outdoor supplies were part of the plan
Redemptive Cycles was due to operate a bicycle valet for people choosing to ride rather than drive. AL.com attributed that announcement to Yonder Walls' Instagram account. Event rules prohibited electric scooters and electric bikes, and some roads were due to close during the festival.
Organizers encouraged people to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets for the outdoor visit. They also recommended water bottles, with hydration stations planned for refills. Portable phone chargers and cash for local vendors and food trucks completed the suggested packing list.
The murals carry the project beyond the festival day
Yonder Walls combined paid mural production with plans for a community wall in one public-art event. That pairing connects commissioned mural production with an invitation for residents to participate. The 35 murals on Urban Supply's exterior are the element that stays on the street beyond the festival date.
For mural followers, the building's painted walls are the focus: artwork encountered in relation to architecture and the surrounding streets. Explore other street-art locations through the mural map.
